And Now, The Gong Wind Chime Show

Why just get regular wind chimes when you can get a gong wind chime (sometimes called “gong chimes” or “Emperor Gong chimes”). They work and look much like a regular wind chime, but instead of making soft tinkling chimes, the gong wind chime makes deep, long GONGs that many owners say is very soothing.

Here Are The Contestants

Gong wind chimes are made of the same materials as ordinary wind chimes, but often the gong part is made of metal in order to get the proper soothing sound. They vary in size and price. Sometimes, you can even find gong wind chime earrings. You can easily find gong wind chimes for sale in garden, department or Feng Shui supply stores. You can often find deals on gong wind chimes on online auction houses.

When selecting your gong wind chime, make sure

that you have room for it
that it is not too heavy for where you want to hang it
that you like the sound (because you’ll be hearing a lot of it)
that it is easily portable for you
that you can afford it

If your prospective gong wind chime falls short on any of these areas, ignore it and shop on.

You Be The Judge

Some people prefer gong wind chimes to regular wind chimes as they often make less noise. There are usually only one or two clappers (the things that strike the gong) on this kind of wind chime. Gong wind chimes are also very beautiful and go with any décor or garden design. They often are incorporated with a mini-mobile for a more interesting visual effect than just the gong and a clapper. There are even small gongs without clappers but with a banger attached that let you chose when and where to strike the gong. They can be used indoors and out.

Throughout history, bells, chimes and gongs were said to scare off evil spirits and attract good spirits. Gongs were an important part of the secular and spiritual lives of many Oriental cultures. Many customs, beliefs and art forms begun in the east are now popular in the West. Feng Shui, as sort of interior and exterior design for happiness, often recommends hanging up bells, gongs or chimes in order to make the various elemental energies of an area balanced.
Lots of people love gong wind chimes because they are affordable, portable art that brings people a lot of pleasure and inner peace.
